The only valid method acting is whatever the hell Ryan Gosling did to embody Ken. Anything else is unacceptable.

Just so we’re clear, the movie we watched this weekend very loudly proclaimed that gender is a made up identity completely separate from “biological sex” and if you accept that narrative then you must also accept the existence of trans people, nb people and anyone else who does not neatly fit into the concept of the gender binary

ace-catboy-ryuuzaki:

Loved that scene in Goncharov where Goncharov had an existential crisis at a party and then proceeded to invent the atomic bomb with his himbo boyfriend Valery.

creativename87:

ah yes the four genders

  • Barbie
  • Ken
  • Allen
  • corporate office worker

there is a very real part of me that wishes greta gerwig would have focused a bit more on what it’s like to not only be a woman, but a woman of color. she had so much potential with america ferrera and her speech to draw focus on the fact that being a woman in the real world is even HARDER when you aren’t white because of all the racism that our world is built on.

and obviously greta might not be the one to write it, as she doesn’t have the experience, but i guarantee there was some working on the movie that could have. it was just such a missed an opportunity.

that being said, it was still an incredible movie. it felt so satisfying to be seen as woman in media. to hear women in media actually TALK about the reality of being a woman. 10/10 would see again

Before i saw the Barbie movie, i was really enjoying the marketing (which was genius) and especially i thought the whole “she’s everything, he’s just ken” was hilarious.

But after I’ve seen it, I’m like…yeah, he is just Ken. He’s not Barbie’s Ken, he’s not Barbie’s boyfriend Ken, he’s not the beach Ken. He’s just Ken. And that’s (K)enough.

I like how Allan isn’t “buff” or “strong” looking like many of the kens, yet is the only one among them who actually knows how to fight.
